Through narration and a series of brief interviews by Bahá'ís in diverse settings aorund the world, the documentary film Light to the World describes aspects of the life and teachings of Bahá’u’lláh, the founder of the Bahá'í Faith, and illustrates how his message is effecting a transformation in the lives of individuals and communities.

The film was commissioned by the Bahá'í World Centre to mark the 200th Anniversary of the Birth of Bahá’u’lláh on October 22, 1817. Born in Persia (Iran), Baha’u’llah was imprisoned for 40 years for his efforts to renew religion. After announcing his mission in 1863, he promoted the oneness of humanity, international peace, the unity of religions, human rights, the elimination of prejudices, the equality of women and men, the elimination of extremes of wealth and poverty, the unity of science and religion,and universal education. The Bahá'í Faith is now considered the second most widespread religion in the world.

The film showing is one of a series of events organized by the Saskatoon Bahá'í community to mark the Bicentenary of Bahá’u’lláh’s birth. (A Light of Unity Festival will be held at TCU Place Sunday October 22 at 2pm. Free admission.
